Types of appointment

Choosing an appointment type and length that will enable you to throughly discuss your health concerns with your doctor.

Please check on the various consult lengths and types of appointment available below and choose the one which best suits you. Each person or family member seeing a doctor requires an individual appointment.

Short – Less then 6 mins Script and referral renewals
Standard – Less the 20 min Discuss 1 or 2 basic health issues
Long – Less than 40 mins Complex conditions – 2 health issues, lump excisions & pap smears
Extra long – More than 40 min Medical fitness assessments and care plans.

What to bring to your appointment

Please bring the following to your doctors appointment:

  • Medicare, DVA, Pensioner or Concession Card
  • Private Health Insurance (if applicable)
  • List of any medications, allergies or recent test results
  • List of any questions you may have for your doctor
  • New patients – Arrive 10 minutes early to fill in a new patient and medical history form.

For any results – Please book in for a follow up appointment with your doctor to discuss – We do not give test results over the phone.

A discounted fee or bulk billed consultation may apply for an appointment with the referring GP for the requested tests. The discounted fee does not apply if the appointment involves other health concerns, further investigations or referrals.

If you require a form to be filled in by a doctor such as Centrelink, Disabled Driving Permit, Worker’s Compensation etc. Please note that our doctors are unable to complete forms without you being present.

We ask that you do not drop forms in at Reception rather please make an appointment to see a your doctor to complete any forms or paperwork.

Walk-In Appointments – Where possible, please book an appointment in advance. URGENT walk-in appointments are welcome and will be prioritised upon arrival. We apologise if it causes any delays to your scheduled appointment.

Patients of our practice have the right to access their personal health information under the Privacy Amendment Act 2000. Your consent will be required to forward your medical records on to another provider. Similarly, your previous practice will require signed consent to release a copy of your history to us. Please contact reception for advice on our policy, procedure and fees involved in transferring.

Please note: Your medical records are retained at BMC and a copy, or a summary is forwarded to your new treating Doctor.

An administration fee of approximately $33.00 is payable for the preparation of this transfer.

Our health professionals are committed to preventative care and run a reminder system for regular patients. Patient consent is assumed unless notified to “opt out” of this valued service. Please notify staff if this is your preference.

Our recall system is designed to follow up on clinically significant results. Staff will be instructed by your GP to recall you for an appointment to follow up.

If you are taking regular medications, then you need regular review by your doctor. We do not leave prescriptions at the front desk for you to pick without the doctor seeing you. If you do not make an appointment, the doctor may not have any other time in which to complete script requests.

Please note – We do not write scripts for schedule (S8) medications.

We do not automatically send your pharmacy repeat prescriptions for items in your webster packs. Kindly request your pharmacist to send you a reminder, when you are due for new prescriptions so that you can make an appointment with your GP. Any condition requiring regular medication also requires regular monitoring by a doctor.

At the doctor’s discretion, prescriptions may be sent to pharmacies for patients that have great difficulty attending the practice due to chronic illness/impairment or disability and who do not have a family member or carer who can assist them.

Failing to attend or late cancelation fees may apply. These fees are Privately billed and attract no Medicare rebate. These fees must be paid prior to your next consultation.

Weekends, Afterhours, and Public Holidays may attract higher fees. Please contact reception for further information.

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) is an interpreting service provided by the Department of Home Affairs for people with limited English proficiency and for agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients.

Please contact staff prior to the appointment if you or someone else requires an interpreter service for their consultation.

Fee Information

We are a bulk billing medical practice for eligible patients and services. Patients and services not eligible to be bulk billed will be charged a fee. Please contact reception to confirm if you are unsure.

Bulk Billing Conditions – 1st November 2025

Please note – The following patients/services will continue to be bulk billed (except for procedures):

  • All patients with a valid Medicare Card
  • Concession cardholders – Pension, Healthcare or DVA card
  • Health Assessments – GP Careplans
  • Children and pensioners with lumps/cancer excision
  • Vaccination consults.

Some services are not eligible for Bulk Billing – See below and refer to reception for details.

Services that may not be bulk billed

  • Non Medicare Card holders
  • Workers Compensation
  • Private Insurance Claims
  • Fitness to Work Assessment
  • Fitness To Drive Assessment
  • Lumps /Skin cancer excision biopsy.

Consultation Fees – Private Billing 1st November 2025

All consultations/procedures that are not eligible for bulk billing will attract a fee (this includes Medicare Card holders and non-Medicare-card holders). The fees stated below are an estimate only. The final fee from your doctor will depend on the length of your consult or procedure.
